Default Leads on health insurance?

My parents are like 55 years old, and their current policy sucks and is pretty expensive. Anybody have any suggestions for health insurance? They are self-employed. Thanks.

look into group rates. you only need a minimum of two people for it.
Group rates tend to be cheaper and if you have a previous medical history its easier to get into.

Kaiser is ok but its good for younger people. From family experience if someone gets very seriously ill Kaiser can be detrimental because you can only use their pool of Doctors. If you seek a specialist outside of Kaiser they will not cover the cost.

Look into Healthnet. And of course Blue Cross. Or try to get into someone else's group medical plan.

I'd recommend either Healthnet or Bluecross & Blueshield.

I have always had company provided healthcare, so I have NO idea how to shop for a sick policy.

I used http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ when I was an independent contractor.

You don't need an agent. Call them directly and tell them you are interested in purchasing individual coverages.
