from my research, it's in place because people were blowing their diffs or clutch from too many hard launches, so i think they put it in as a precaution? i personally hate it and i drive a lot smoother on ap1's with it on. s for shweet-2k: essentially what it is (and someone w/ more technical knowledge, please chime in if i'm wrong), is a delay that slips the clutch on hard/quick shifts rather than engaging completely into gear. in other words, when i'm doing a 1->2 vtec shift as fast as i can, it'll sound like i'm slipping the gear in rather than what my left foot really is doing (clutch completely in, clutch completely out).

everything i read on the thread on s2ki though points to the ap2 owners recommended to get a lighter flywheel after taking it off because of some reason (i forgot why), so i think that was the only reason preventing me from removing mine to prevent long term damage/wear?

any ap2's that have done this provide insight?
i have this done on my 04 for around a year. no problems whatsoever.......... im not saying i launch hard alot in my car but i definately have my share of fun. i noticed an immediate response. i would reccommend for any s2k owner but i am not a mechanic. im happy with mine

If you can take it out, is it more hassle to put back on?

i think once you take the pin out of your existing cdv, it's impossible (or very difficult to put it back). many people just choose to replace it with an ap1 part.

Like i said, thread is a thread with tons of info on this.

Theres some good to bad with this. If you take the CDV out you should get a lighter FW with a better PP.

Search and you will find.

yeah you can just replace the slave cylinder on your ap2 to an ap1 slave cylinder. the ap1 slave cylinder does not have the delay valve. thats also an option for those thinking of doing this mod. replace it from the beginning. i heard it would cost around $70
