Default Just a quick question

This might sound really stupid but here goes nothing.

I found a great deal on a mg hood and its located in central california. Its about a 2 and a half hour drive for me and the only way to get there is my S2. So i was thinking is it ok to drive without a hood? Is it even legal? thanks guys

Wink

I'm not sure about the legality, but I am also not sure you want to drive that far and long (2.5 hours) without a hood. Think of the bugs and dirt that will get trapped in the engine bay.

yea i wouldn't recommend it either, i mean 100 bucks to ship the item or drive 2-3 hrs and risk a ticket which is worth $$$ get your car empounded for no hood, or damaging your motor some how with flying debris....

just not worth it.

I'm sorry but unless you know for certain don't make the claim and if you do know you need to quote the CVC statute.

Per the original poster I've known people who've driven to LA hoodless with no issues. But if you want to be certain you need to check the CVC code.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vc.htm

There are specific statutes for fender requirements and for bumper requirements but there does not appear to be any specific hood requirement.
