i wasn't even pulled over, i was parked and got a ticket

and i was sitting in the car still when i got the ticket
i got a no front plate ticket before. at an expired meter. when i wasn't there.

and attached to the ticket was a note that read: "at least i did not issue you a parking citation. =)"

and apparently my s2k was a miata that day.

My friend got pulled over in his evo also. Popped the hood and got a ref ticket even though his intake was carb legal. They told him no sticker not legal. showed him on the internet the carb EO papers from the ARB website and told him "tell that to the ref"

So this proves that THERE IS still a ref? I thought it was suspended?

The CAP program was suspended AFAIK not the REF. The verbage makes it sound like the ref part is discontinued but why would the state drop a program that takes money in? Thats probably why people are getting pulled over more often. Chances are they don't have CARB legal parts.

I personally haven't called DMV to confirm if the ref has been disc. or not. Been to busy but I'll try this week.

still is...i think they are having a fund raising thing(not really) by pulling more cars over little things...$10 adds up after pulling over plenty of cars.
this sucks!

guaranteed 10 but once they pop the hood chances are no CARB legal parts = more $$

I wonder if my custom setup would pass since the carb EO is etched into the supercharger bracket...

If they question it they'll just send you to the REF to confirm legality. Sucks but they do it all the time. It's just easier for them to do so. There has also been a lot of "fake" EO stickers so this is probably why they are doing this. That's why I think the whole CARB EO is BS... You still have to go to the ref so why have an EO number? Having a number should make it legal PLAIN and simple.

Basically we are "guilty until proven innocent"

i see how that makes sense Andy... wow, that really sucks. I think in my case, it would be easier to just fork up the fine instead of removing everything and having it smogged at the ref.

do you still have to pay eventhough you are proven not guilty?
