I have the N1 dual, and yes, it's loud. The only time I had a problem was when a cop in SF next to me told me: "Your exhaust is loud, i could give you a ticket for that!" ... Me: "Excuse me? I couldn't hear you" (I really couldn't but because of the radio)... Then I told him I bought the car like that and I left. As everyone else said though, just keep your revs low in the cities and you're good.
