Default Interesting Parking Ticket

I got a parking ticket right in front of my house in Cupertino.
The violation says "Parked Within 18" of right hand curb."
Fine: $35 (Ouch!!!)

I thought about the violation for a while and finally understood what they mean.
On our quiet neighborhood street, I sometimes get lazy and park in opposite direction depending which way I come home. So he meant I parked about 25' from the opposite side "right hand" curb.

Now my question is:
1. don't they have something like park on the wrong side? why did he give me this one? Is it possible that the fine is higher for this one, that's why he gave this violation?

2. is there a place I can look up the code?

Either way, I might just pay the fine, after all, I did something wrong.

its means you were parked too far from the curb...doubt you can do anything...if it was in a residential zone it was probably a neighbor/hater that called you in...i had this problem before when I got into a verbal confrontation with a neighbor down the street.
I never tried this but try www.parkingticket.com

Parking opposite direction is $25 so difference isn't that bad.

Calif. Vehicle Code 22502(a) states " Every vehicle stopped or parked upon a roadway where there are adjacent curbs shall be stopped or parked with the right hand wheels of such vehicle parallel with and within 18 inches of the right-hand curb."

One violation code is good for multiple offenses, so it's easier to use.

I got an education on that subject a few years ago when two of my neighbors were feuding. My next door neighbor had about 6 or 8 cars parked all over the place and the neighbor across the street got annoyed that some of them were always in front of his house, so he called the cops. If a car hadn't been moved for 72 hours, it could get a ticket. So every couple of days he would go out and rearrange all of the cars to keep from getting more tickets. If anybody in the neighborhood was ever parked backwards, they usually got the 18" ticket.

The feud went on for months and was very annoying, but somehow they worked it out and arrived at a truce. It might have helped that my next door neighbor reduced his collection down to just five cars.
