why should the car stay stock to be competative in auto cross??? i dont agree or disagree really, i just dont understand why ud want to keep it stock?
The main problem is that the other cars you will compete with in the modified classes will benefit much more from their mods than you will. Which will make it harder to be competitive. Take a look at how many S2000s won national SCCA championship positions stock vs. prepared last year:

There are other factors though, the A stock drivers in your area may be too good to beat...

Here's a teazer for you guys (dyno graph will be posted in about a week or so):
I had the Toda exhaust manifold and J's Racing straight pipe installed on my MY06 S2000. With these two products, and some ECU tuning, I made an additional 21 ft-lbs of torque between 4000-6000 rpms!

With the wealth of used parts out there for the S2k and the minimal HP return on investment I would look for the following... (Best bang for the buck IMHO).
AEM CAI V2 (I had it, liked it, cheap, good power. Install was a little time consuming.
Used Spoon, Mugen header. (Good, expensive new, and used!)
Don't drop tons on an exhasut, they dont do much for this car, but I would go single exhaust...if you like that look.
Truth be told, you'll bet more enjoyment from braking and handling mods on this car, Vs. power mods.
My favorite upgrade was the works forged wheels and spoon 4 pot calipers...
