This is how it works.

Accident and Your Deductible
You caused it. You pay!
They caused it. They pay!
They don't have insurance. You pay!
You don't have insurance. You OWNED!

It's not their job to get the money back. Their job is to make a profit and they won't hesitate to exploit their customers in the process.

i used to work for farmers, yes you do have to pay ur deductible. if the damage was more than $750 to any one person's property, they will get a letter from DMV to show proof of inusrance, if they didnt have insurance at the time of the accident, their license will be suspended. So yeah, probably that other person's license will get suspended.

some insurance companies depending which has this option called "un-insured motorists" i know progressive does and perhaps geico , other than that im not sure who else does. you should try asking to see if yours does, it's worth a try.

other than that the only thing you can really do is take them to small claims court and sue them unless the damages are above $5K

good luck

I think one thing you guys forgot to mention... If a driver is borrowing another friend's car, hits someone. Believe it or not but it's the owner of the car who pays! So don't lend your car out unless you really trust the guy!

although soemtimes your insurance will cover you if you drive someone elses car and get into an accident, again these are options you'd have to make sure your insurance offers before hand. sort of like renting a car you have the option of using your own insurance instead of the one they provide.
