It seems as though your insurance company is doing a pretty good job. I had to deal with Mercury when a guy hit my first car (prelude ) They gave me the run around and eventuallly I just went through my own insurance company and they took care of everything. It took some time before it was all resolved, but in the end it worked out.

Either way, if the guy admitted fault & it's on record, then you should be fine. I'm sure Mercury will just raise that guy's rates. but from experience, mercury insurance was definitely a pain to deal with.

good luck and hopefully it'll work out for the best.

I don't want to do that because

1) I don't want to shell out the $500 deductible. My ins co will "try" to get the $500 back for me via subrogation but no guarantee if I'll see that $500 back and who knows when i'll get that $500 back.

2) Every time I apply for insurance, the application says "List all claims you've made to your ins co REGARDLESS OF FAULT". Ins co's say that 'not at fault' accident's won't affect rates but I tend to think that it does (esp if you have a lot of 'not at fault' accidents). I agree it "shouldn't make your rates go up" but who knows........
If the accident is not your fault, why you still need to worry about the deductible? The other party will pay the full damage amount anyway. Your company doesn't need to spend a single penny regardless your deductible amount, right?

If you want get your car fix ASAP, I would go with your own insurance and paid the $500. If you wait for other insurance, it could take a while. Save yourself the headache and go with your own insurance and just let your claim adjuster deal with the other party, thats what they get paid for. Until your insurance figures out who's actually at fault, your insurance shouldn't increase, Wa. Insurance is pretty good about that.
