i think i may have to push back my trip to january due to work. since the snow is better then, there's a big possibility that i'll end up in tahoe.

Tahoe is very expensive around the holidays. Book early if you are going. The airport isn't the safest due to surrounding mountains and airstrip being in a hole. Not to mention the weather in december. I'd consider flying into another part of Nevada or Sacramento and driving in. Tahoe is 3 hours from Sacramento-when the weather is good.

If you go to tahoe, even though the better resorts are in north shore (Alpine, Squaw, Northstar), I would recommend going to south shore (Sierra, Kirkwood, Heavenly) because of the access to the casinos at night time.
BTW, Heavenly is a tourist trap unless you ski on the Nevada side
