Sorry for the slow response, many of us are away for the long weekend I thin.
Hotels: Depends upopn what you are looking for. If you stay in the city, you may want to find a place with covered secure parking such as the W (south of market by the museums), Hyatt Regency (at the Embarcadero), or Park Hyatt (also close to Embarcedero). There is a Grand Hyatt at Union Square which is pretty cool.
I just got back from a 700+ mile drive, so let me get settled and think of a few more ideas. I am sure a few others will pipe up...we are always full of ideas (among other things! )

For Hotels: One of my girlfriends and mine personal favorites in SF is the Mandarin Oriental . A Mandarin King bedroom with a Bay Bridge or the Golden Gate view is absolutely fantastic. Very pricey, but a marvelous hotel with a very courteous staff with well thought of amenities (excellent place for couples)
As for Attractions: The typical places are good. Fisherman wharf, Union Square, Golden Gate park, Chinatown, etc. Since you are coming in on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays nights have a lot of night clubs and bars. There's a little something for everyone.
For Food: There are a ton of places to eat. With so much diversity, one can get overwhelmed on where and what to eat. It also depends on how much you want to spend. Hopefully some of the other members can give you more advice on this section. All I can say is they have some damn good food there!
Hope this helps and have a good time!
