Oh, and I just saw something that a lot of you might like, there's a California Renter's Credit, I'll find out more information and post it here.

--If you have paid rent for at least half the year in California for your principal residence, there's a credit you can take, it's line 28 on page 2 of the California Individual tax return.
Don't you have to make $30k or less???

Mine was only $25 but I still have the confirmation e-mail so I'll be sure to bring that.

Thanks!

I always thought it's been like that? You have to itemize all donations. I just moved and I donated a shit load of stuff!! I got like 6 receipts! Bad thing is I think I forgot where I put 3 of them!!
True. I added that because some people take the standard deduction, and then any donations you make are nondeductible anyway.

Don't think so, I just did a return where the guy made $54k, so you'd have to check the relevant publications.

I'd rather just pay a tax consultant $20 to do it and if anything goes wrong, it's on his ass not mine.

Yea, that time of year again!! I always wait till the last minute since we owe "uncle Sam"... Have to get all the paperwork ready. Last year I went to bookstore to do our return on a Friday morning. It was nice, no interruption.
