Default I R back.

heh, I just picked up my 08 Chicane on black s2000 last week. 08 with 2700 miles on it. Nice to have an s2000 in the garage again! Now, to make it faster than the Evo. It's kinda funny, I realized I've owned all the even years of S2000s. I had a 2000, a 2002, a 2004, a 2006 and now a 2008.

I had been searching for a used one for a long time and was having a really rough time finding a clean one. I leased a Z4 Sdrive35i, but ended up transferring the lease to a friend of mine, since the car was great but wasn't for me.

But yeah, I couldn't believe how many bad s2000s I found. All 3 at Mike Harvey Honda were cosemetically rough and had at least 1-2 replaced fenders... 2 at Larry Hopkins, the black one has a hole in the top and they refused to warranty it before I bought it, and the red one has been in an accident, the radiator, radiator support, fans, bumper, etc has all been replaced and the steering has a really weird feel to it. There were 2 at Pleasanton Honda, and both had been in accidents. The LBP's bumper was all screwed up and it'd been lowered (and the fenders were all scraped up from wheels that rubbed. There is a White 08 with black/red interior at Putnam Mazda, which is a terrible dealership to deal with. I was actually all set to buy that one (has KW V3s and a Tanabe Touring Medallion exhaust) but the sales staff there are impossible to deal with. Plus, they were missing the adjustment wrenches and knobs for the KWs and the car was a little rough cosemetically (dings, curbed wheels, front bumper has some pretty big scrapes in it and the passenger side door has a 1/2" square spot of paint missing.)

Anyhow, I might've overpaid a bit for my 08, but it was new and definitely the cleanest one I've found! Only problem so far is that the top elastic seems a bit worn out (car probably sat for awhile with the top up) and it folds a little funny, I'm just gonna replace those straps that pull the cross bar back.

Yeah, buying a used S2000 is tricky. Seems like every one out there has either been beaten on, or the people selling it are dumbasses and impossible to buy from.

They sure aren't easy cars to leave! Glad you found yet another keeper. Chicane is a gorgeous color.

I bought Modifry's replacement, but you can get them at the dealership too. (although they are $40 and require a rivet gun to replace if you get the stock ones.)

It's definitely hard to find a clean used one. I'm surprised the dealers stock the one with accident before, are they even certified?

Welcome back!!!

You know, that was what was killing me! Several of the cars I looked at were certified!

crazy huh? But yeah, I mean, to a knowledgable eye, they were clearly in accidents... The red one was repaired pretty nicely, and it looked fine cosmetically... but dang, the steering really felt off.

I mean, this isn't to say that I haven't ever had a minor bumper respray on any of my cars... or that minor damage on a used car would really bug me. Things happen. But, when a car has been wrecked hard enough to require the bumper, radiator support, radiator, fans, etc to be replaced, that's a decently hard hit.

Even the white on black on at Anderson that sold in like 2-3 days had a bumper respray.
