Hi all,

I went to fill up last night and notice I was 2/3 of a quart low on oil and I'm at 3K miles. I was worried and bought Chevron 10-30 from the station and added it in. Is there anything wrong with Chevron natural oil? I figured it was fine and I'm going to have my first oil change at around 5-6K any way.

Don't worry. I kept topping off my oil until my first oil change at 7K miles.

 

Keep a very close eye on the oil consumption and keep it topped off... Eventually you'll see the consumption drop off. For me that was somewhere around 5K miles and dont switch to Synthetic until then.

 

Yeah, just keep a note of how you much, mileage, date, etc. For me, when I hit about 5K the consumption went down quite a bit. I used about 1.5 quarts in the first 5K.

As a side note, when I switched over to synthetic I got a NOTICEABLE gain in power. It was a good thing.
