Hello,
I'm not sure if anyone has a good traffic lawyer in CA, but I do need one.
Here's my story. About 6 weeks ago, I drove from Austin, TX to Seattle. I was on Highway 101, in Ukiah, CA (Medocino County) when I got a ticket. The officer was cool (esp. since he was originally from TX) and only gave me a 70 in a 65 speeding ticket (I was going much faster). Well, the ticket still came out to be $126.
I dont mind paying it, actually, a traffic attorney here in Seattle, told me to pay it. He also told me to find some way to keep it off my record, and that a CA traffic lawyer may be able to help.
The only catch is, I still have a TX license. I'm not sure if a CA lawyer can even help me out, but I would at least like to talk to one. I just dont want any infractions to appear on my TX license (for insurance purposes). I would take traffic school, but since I'm not a CA residence, I am not eligible.
I was thinking about ignoring the ticket, but my lawyer here said that it could get back to TX, and also reported to a collection agency, and I'll have a "ding" on my credit report.
I just want to talk to lawyer to see if he can help me out. Thanks!

IANAL, and I don't think you need one.

in CA you can fight it by mail in what's called a trial by declaration. Always fight, never give up!
A ticket for 70 in 65 can be beat by the basic speed law no problem. The cop is counting on you to just submit and pay...since he wrote it for 70, that's all he can say you were doing in the trial by declaration, if he does the paperwork at all.
what specific code were you cited for?
