The funny part is that it's not even 100% effective at protecting your thyroid. Likely any radiation we see over here will be the equivalent health risk of smoking a couple cigarettes, or flying to the east coast. There's just a hollywood-movie like stigma concerning radiation - it might as well be raining tarantulas.

It's funny my friend in Thailnad had asked me yesterday on FB about the potassium iodide tablets and I had no idea what she was talking about. I don't really care for watch too much of news because a lot of time they are just overreact or blow out of porpotion. At work, a centerwide email went to everyone at NASA stated the CDPH(CA Dept of Public Health) is closely monitoring and working with other authorities. It's really not likely we here will be affected.

I think it would be pretty awesome if it started raining tarantulas...

Anyway, the supermarket I usually frequent has just sold out of seaweed. I wanted to buy some for cooking, but I guess the radiation panic caused all the seaweed and kelp related products to be sold out everywhere.

Well, regardless, the radiation is supposed to touch down today at 4PM. Good luck everyone.

when the radiation cloud hits the US, I'm gonna

1. expose myself to some extra gamma radiation
2. find a spider and hold it to the radiation then have it bite me.

You want madness go to Valley Fair at 6am this morning!

My buddy and I tried to sneak in from a back door thinking we are smart only to find the line was wrapped around Nordstrom! The people up first in line were (asians of course) and they said they were there since MIDNIGHT

The funniest part is that while we were walking my friend suggested we "jog" so we started from the CPK and as we neared these 2 asian ladies, they saw as and tried to power walk as we blew by them. Then this older asian guy with a suitcase saw us coming and he out of the blue lunged forward into a gallop trying to beat us to the line...haha Of course all of us were too late since most people were there by 2am from what I understand.

Oops back on topic, sorry OP but that pill is NOT going to save anyone since it's only proven effective to help the thyroid gland while every other part of the body will be exposed. Also it's not supposed to help those over the age of 40+

The average person isn't very smart. That's why you see this type of behavior.

We're 7,000 miles away. The effects of the reactor exploding would be questionable. Anyone who uses a laptop on their lap puts more radiation in the crotch daily.

The only protection people will get is from buying a full blown suit with air filter.
