I know it can be done but don't know *exactly* how to go about it. What I understand is that you can go to court and plead guilty. Somehow you either ask or they just do, sentence you to your fine and traffic school.

Any one here do this? How do I go about it?

Also curious. Can you go to traffic school for a previous ticket from like a year ago or is there a timeframe when you have to complete it?

Yes you can. Basically the strategy it to contest your ticket to death. Meaning, write in, try to fight it, if it comes out bad, arrange in person for a trial, at the trial plead your case again, if you lose, then and only then ask that you attend traffic school.

This is true to a point. If you look at the link I provide above, T.A.s says you can go to court and get assigned a fine and traffic court even if it's less than 18 months.

Well, I dont know about fighting it again, but I do know that you can take a second offence traffic school course. It is a 12 hr course and they have the course that you can do through the mail. I just got done doing this myself. It cost like $90 for the course and took me about 8 hrs to read through the booklet and answer all the questions. It was really easy but I would reccomend you reading the material first. Alot of find the missing word or fill in the blanks. Then there are multiple choice questions. It was fairly easy actually.

Other then that, I will be fighting my most recent one and if I lose, I will request traffic school. We'll see how that goes.

On paper-- True, at court-- not true. When I appeared at court and asked whether or not I could take traffic school, they just gave it to me. The judge apparently had no record as to whether I had attended school earlier that year!
