Just curious why no one has pulled the trigger on this car yet. Wondering if any of those people are on these boards. I'm thinking of getting it if the price was reduced. How much would you pay?

Please excuse me if these posts are getting redundant to you all.

The reason no one pulled the trigger yet is that this is one of those cars that stand outside of what most people are looking for. Many people are reluctant to buy a car with 100k miles, and we're talking about nearly double here. I personally wouldn't mind, but there's no way in hell I'd expect it to last forever. Metal fatigues, wears, and eventually breaks just like everything else in life. In one way or another, that motor is headed for catastrophic engine failure. Between the valvetrain, bearings, rings, pistons, the sleeves, etc. there's a lot of things that can go wrong.

It might not blow up today, it might not blow up 10,000 miles down the road, but it is more prone to it compared to most other motors. For that car, I'd say a fair price would be right around 5000$ if the chassis is unaltered/undamaged. Just don't see too many clean title S2k's for under 5k so I doubt he'd be the first. Especially considering that he's holding onto 6500$ for months and months while posting in the wrong section of craigslist the entire time.

oh yeah just to add a bit of reference/context to the experience, my 00' has 180k and it spun a bearing. still runs (i move it for street sweeping) but it's getting rebuilt shortly. In total with a hookup it still costs 1500$ through and through for machining/labor. Approx. 4-800$ in parts depending what I need when I get in there. So far it looks like: new main bearings, new rod bearings, new piston rings, new gasket/seal set for the entire motor, used OEM crank/rods from a different motor. After the rebuild, it should be cherry again with 180k on the clock and I'll be looking at pushing 400+whp on it

80-100k, it's actually a set of pistons/rods/crank.

that was when I thought this motor was still good . but yeah that's me, it's sitting on the back burner now probably until summer when I find a nice sleeved block to play with. Kinda reconsidering it too after a bit of research since the rod angle/ rod:stroke ratio is kinda iffy for boost. (think it was 1.43:1 which strays kinda far from ideal 1.55ish)

it seems like he reposted his craigslist ad to fish for anyone who wouldn't mind buying it for $6500.

after reading everyones replies, i decided that i won't buy it. unless the offer was close to $5000.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
