How/Where to best dispense of used motor oil?

Here in the east bay, the garbage company won't pick up more than 6 gallons and they only offer it 3 times per year.

In the city, you can get 2 pickups a year only

Yeah, you can save it up if you change oil more often, but who really wants a bunch of toxic waste in their garage until the next pickup.
