Default How to spend the weekend in Monterey

I'll be spending the Pre-Laguna weekend in Monterey and besides the Aquarium, what else would people recommend doing?

kayaking in the bay, rent a bike and ride the entire coastal trail, go out to LS and watch the NASA events, drive down the coast top down and cut back across on some of those cool roads in the hills.

Drive down Highway 1 towards Big Sur - beautiful drive.

Definitely check out Carmel - very different from Monterey and you're just about guaranteed to see a sweet Ferrari. Pretty much any restaurant will have good food.

Go to Pt Lobos, it is a beautiful park. Nice nature trail and great picture place. The squirrels are sooo FAT it is hilarious. They will come right up to you and beg for food.

Definitely come by LS on SAT. There will be many of us there.

1. Drive down Sunset Ave which will take you to 17 Mile Drive. This is a beautiful road that takes you along the beautiful Monterey/Pacific Grove coast.

2. Drive down the 1 Hwy to Pt. Lobos...absolutely the most beautiful coastline in the country!

3. Drive to downtown Carmel on Ocean Ave. off the 1 Hwy. Nice shops and art galleries if you like that.

4. Drive down Carmel Valley Road off the 1 Hwy. Stop off at a winery for a tasting and enjoy the beautiful scenerey.

5. As others mentioned take a bike ride around the coast on the bike trail. This wraps around The Wharf, Cannery Row, Asilomar (same as #1 suggestion)

6. Rent a Kayak next to The Wharf and kayak the bay. I live right on the beach near there and I have yet to do that, but it's on my list.

Enjoy!!!!

WHAT????? Why not play Pebble? If you walk on and sign up, it's possible that you can get on this time of year. They have had to lay people off at Pebble Beach company because it's been so slow at the golf course...

If that is a no-go then I'm with DBW. Drive south and go to Ventana. You will be an HERO with the Mrs.
