Default how to set up a satellite?

So my instructor asked me to step up the satellite and im totally lost in how to do it. This guy that's a member did all the wiring and stuff and supposedly all we had to do was set up the satillite and find the reception. We have the whole thing set up but for some reason we cant get any reception wht so ever. Ever so often we go up on the roof and walk around with the thing but nothin. so if anyone can help shoot me a pm and you will be compensated. really appreciate it guys. thanks

If you sign up for a new contract, most likely, Directv will come set it up for free.

depends on which satellite youre trying to pick up signal from. there are 3 satellites for directv

try starting at 10deg elavation, 106deg tilt and 114deg azimuth.

oh is that the big dish deflector? the round one?

i used to install the filipino channel dishes before they merged with directv and it can pick up asian and middle eastern satellites. that kind of LNB has only a small window on the southern sky, it's harder to setup compare to directv. thats the reason why they made a big deflector so it can receive signal better.

try 10deg elevation, 90deg tilt and 115-120 deg azimuth, try to move it a hair at a time. it's really hard to do it without a signal meter.

good luck!
