Default How to get rid of rats in the garage?

I just found that I have rodent(s) living in my garage where I park my S2K. I've read many threads about rats chewing through the wiring harness or other things in the S2K, so now I am paranoid about parking my car in there.

So what is the best way to get rid of the rat(s) from my garage? I'd need suggestions as to where to buy any equipment I'd need or what company to call. I don't want to mail-order anything because I want it as soon as possible, so I'd rather pay a little more and just pick it up locally. Here are the possibilities:

Electronic gadget to drive the rodent(s) away -- do these work?
Traps that work.
Rocdent control companies.

Please do not suggest a cat because I cannot live with one. Poisons are also out because I don't want a dead rat rotting somewhere inside my garage. Any other workable suggestions are also welcome. Thanks.

Call terminix.... They will come out and set up mouse traps and everytime one gets stuck in there... YOu give them a call and they will come out and pick it up and set up a new trap... They picked up 9 from my house and they're completely gone now...

I suggest the sticky traps. They always work for me, unless the rat is huge and then it can usually take the trap with it, and you'll never find it. The old school rat traps that snap work sometimes as well. Also I find that peanut butter works great at attracting them to the trap.

Just get the large glue traps. They have worked for me like a charm. If your lucky enough to catch one alive in the glue trap to make sure it doesn't get away, take another glue trap and stick it on top of the rat making a rat sandwich with the traps. For the finale......smack the rat sandwich a few times with a baseball bat.

My experience with the electronic devices is that they don't work.

Get the cheapy, flat glue traps from OSH or HD and use peanut butter for bait.

Also, line the traps along the walls and corners. That'll catch'em.

I had rodent problems in my house in San Diego. It's a new development, so evertime they clear land they end up pushing the rodents to the new houses.

I would agree with everyone here and I'd use glue traps. I place them along the walls and near small possible entry/exit points. At one point I was able to lay 10 glue traps and catch 15 rodents overnite!

Then the following day I replaced the traps and caught another 4!

I would stay away from poisons and oldschool traps, as they can become quite messy.

Somehow the "glue traps" just sound so in-humane to me. They remind me of the old spring loaded coyote traps where the trapped animal would chew off its own foot to try to get away.

Does anyone have recommendations for cage type traps? If I don't hear any other suggestions by the end of today, then I'm off to HomeDepot to pick up the glue traps.

+1 ON GLUE TRAPS!

im evil, i use to have mice problems and got the glue traps. I had one with its tail stuck on it and grap the trap and threw it out side and watch it drag the trap while i shot it with a paintball. Ever since then no mice/rat or rodent problems.
