I'm not spreading rumors. OP did not say what his vehicle was and in him saying "TO" chances are his car was pre 96. Most pre 96 vehicles are OBDI and they are trying to get rid of them along w/ OBD0 and pre OBD to reduce the carbon footprint and so big companies can buy those credits back because of the pollution they produce. I've talked to people at BAR and even know some that work there so I ask these stupid questions all the time to see if there is a way I can "exclude" myself from SMOG.

Do you own any pre 96 vehicles? If so how many of yours are "TO?" All my cars that are pre 96 and NON smog exempt have strictly been "TO" each time I get my reg.

Care to share your stats as an advanced emmisions specialist? Which cars get TO? Have the formula? Do you work for a TO station? Since I'm just a layman here please intrigue us here with your knowledge of "behind the scenes at CARB"
Once again, Rumors. Where are your facts they are trying to get rid of pre-OBDII cars? Here is a link on how cars are selected. http://smogcheck.ca.gov/80_BARResources/02...d_Vehicles.html

Personally I have 2 - 1995 cars! In their history only once I have been to directed to a test-only station. My OBDII car has been directed to test-only every time!

I am Advanced Emission Specialist that works for an automotive dealership. Because we repair cars we are a test and repair station. Not only do I have to work with a BAR rep quite often (usually for flagged testes, problem cars, and for questions) but I have to know and follow all the BARs rules. The formula is in the link I posted above for the directed cars. I also stay in contact with my smog teacher (every two years you have to take an update class), who is a BAR employee as a field rep. I have stayed in contact with his just for the industry incites. In no way shape for form am I standing up for the BAR and a lot of the STUPID rules they have. Just getting a Smog License and maintaining it is a huge buricratic mess.
