Crazyness! We pay 1500 for a huge 2 bedroom house with a garage and yard (Btw i live minutes from Avalon..how come I never see the s2k?) But I dont think I can do 1500 for a 1 bedroom although thats what I'd want. The fiance is still in Davis doing work so she only lives with me a few days of the week. Then I'm up there. Avalon is nice however.

Kick your roommate out and find a better one. $1500/month will be hard beat and to 'save' unless you go down market. We pay $1250 for a 2 bedroom 1000sq apt with a bunch of stuff (pool/gyme etc). Utilities are low $41/water, $62/power. It wouldn't be good to drive from here to Berkley daily however.

the price is okay. we do get all the nice amenities like heated pool and gas bbq pits here. the best part about living here is that my pge bill is roughly $19 a month!

^ WOW! Thats how much Im paying for my apartment! Sounds kinda crazy but I am willing to buy a house from Dublin to Tracy area just for the price and commute to Palo Alto everyday.

I'd look for a small house to rent in the hills surrounding that whole metro area, as long as you don't mind not being 2 minutes from the corner store. If you get out of the middle of cities, you pay less for more, have more privacy, and have far more security for the S. A lot of the big high-end houses have in-law cottages that are for rent sometimes. After living in a few cottages in the Santa Cruz mountains area, I will never go back to an apartment complex ever again. Besides, the road that leads to my house is nearly as fun as the ones we go to for group drives.
