Generally speaking, renting a house means you pay for all utilities, which typically add up to several $100 a month. You also don't have access to the amenities that nicer apt complexes have like; pools, bbq areas, gym, etc.

Kick your roommate out and find a better one. $1500/month will be hard beat and to 'save' unless you go down market. We pay $1250 for a 2 bedroom 1000sq apt with a bunch of stuff (pool/gyme etc). Utilities are low $41/water, $62/power. It wouldn't be good to drive from here to Berkley daily however.

Dublin is far from cheap. Tracy on the other hand is.

i work in sf and i barely drive the s2k. maybe saturday evenings and sundays. most of the time she sits in the garage.

the price is okay. we do get all the nice amenities like heated pool and gas bbq pits here. the best part about living here is that my pge bill is roughly $19 a month!

Do they do any referral reward program? If they do and I move in - I can put your name as ref.

I live in Tracy. It is FAR from everything in the bay. If you commute to berkeley, you are looking at close to an 2 hour commute daily. I commute to SF, but theres also a train that I use to get to the bart station that's near my house.

I'd look for a small house to rent in the hills surrounding that whole metro area, as long as you don't mind not being 2 minutes from the corner store. If you get out of the middle of cities, you pay less for more, have more privacy, and have far more security for the S. A lot of the big high-end houses have in-law cottages that are for rent sometimes. After living in a few cottages in the Santa Cruz mountains area, I will never go back to an apartment complex ever again. Besides, the road that leads to my house is nearly as fun as the ones we go to for group drives.
