Hey Dude, I know you don't want to consider Oakland, but you may be able to catch a good deal on an in-law unit or apartment in the Montclair Village district of Oakland. Its in the Oakland hills off of hwy 13. Its pretty safe and it centrally located; not too far from Berkeley or Hayward.

did you ever check out the avalon communities near the pleasant hill bart station? thats where im at now...secure underground garage for my S as well. and its a very quiet community. i'm sure it'll be good for you and your fiance.

I'm considering Pleasant Hill as well. But from what I see 1bd @avalon is 2k.

I have a decent sized room available next month at my house. But no garage. 
it safe out here in union city. My s is parked outside hence the fading paint and faded and cracked plastic window.

Crazyness! We pay 1500 for a huge 2 bedroom house with a garage and yard (Btw i live minutes from Avalon..how come I never see the s2k?) But I dont think I can do 1500 for a 1 bedroom although thats what I'd want. The fiance is still in Davis doing work so she only lives with me a few days of the week. Then I'm up there. Avalon is nice however.

^ WOW! Thats how much Im paying for my apartment! Sounds kinda crazy but I am willing to buy a house from Dublin to Tracy area just for the price and commute to Palo Alto everyday.
