Not sure how the front bumper did not get that damaged, but under the car all the plastics were gone. I will get pics from the body shop guy. Hopefully I get some from under the car. But the good thing is if you have AAA insurance this is considered an act of nature. So I am only paying a 50 dollar deductible.

Honestly. I was so in shock that I saw a deer I'm not sure if it was dead already or stunned. I am assuming that it was lying down due to the lack of a totally smashed front bumper. It did have some huge antlers that's how I knew it was a deer. Yes this was in MY06. You can see my under plastics on the side of the free way 80 east along the right side. Between San Pablo and el portal exit around that slight right bend in the freeway.

How big of a dear though. Beacuse if im not mistaken a large dear can damage a car beyond a total wreck. a buddy of mine back home also had a corolla GTS doing 60 hit a dear head on and litterally motor went into the cabin. This is back home in guam and the dears... If there are any left roam amelessly thru out the island.

Looked big it was dark so not sure. But I think I ran over the rear end of the deer. All I know us that I was lucky. Still waiting for body shop to tell me what damages there are.

Most living/uninjured deer dont lie down in the middle of a freeway. I'd say it was already hit hard enough to set it on the ground before you smashed over it. That is probably why your car isn't totaled.

Somehow, I have yet to hit a deer in my S, though I have had countless close calls. In my S, I've hit squirrels, birds, and a rabbit that took a chunk of paint off my front bumper.

Living in the mountains, in my Eclipse, I've smashed into tons of deer, birds, squirrels, skunks, rabbits, even ran over a family of racoons once. I'm an animal lover, but anything smaller than a dog, and I'd rather feel a thump than swerve a car off the road/cliff to avoid a critter. I even almost hit a COW that broke out of its pen on Alpine road once!!

RIP furry creatures.
