Yes you are right, the faster and lower the water drops is the sign how powerful the waves may be. Right now Bays all over the Hawaiian islands are filling up with water but quickly receding like you see in rapid flow rivers. We are hoping the water flows back in slowly and at small wave heights but it is really up in the air at this point!! Will keep u guys updated.

Update: The tide levels are so screwy as one minute they are filled and in minutes the reefs are exposed. We are hoping it is almost past but at this point they are not calling off anything because of the very unusal tidal changes that they did not expect to happen.

My mom lives in honolulu and she just flew out about an hour ago to come visit me.. she told me over the phone that all stores are closed and nobody out on the streets.. i got lotsa family members in hawaii i'm praying...

Seems like the tsunami warnings been lifted? Was glad to hear that! Being from Sri Lanka I've seen (and luckily only slightly been affected by) the amount of damage and devastation a tsunami can cause. Glad to hear Hawaii is safe for the most part this time!
