maybe you can ask for a little break in your monthly rent ($25) if you pay cash

yeah, ask for cash discount! tell her that since it requires you to actually spend time going to the bank, and since your bank CHARGES for you to se a teller, she can either discount it by at least 2x the fee you would pay the bank, OR since it takes you at least 1/2 hour to walk down and do the transactions, she can discount it by your standard rate of compensation X1.5 since this would be overtime!

Seriously though, if your lease/rent statement doesnt require it, you CAN as to renegotiate the term a little...take out the rent agreement and act confused...ask her if maybe you missed something in the agreement as AS SHE KNOWS...going to the bank to do any transaction is a hassle and takes time...which costs money. Since you pay ALL your bills by check or direct payment from the bank, you would like to continue doing so...

blah blah...something like that. see what she says...worst case you gotta get lots of cash and get "robbed " the first time "right before" you go to pay her rent...or maybe you were once robbed before paying rent and swore never to carry that much cash around anymore?

I don't believe that she can require you to pay in cash. But, to make a point, pay her in pennies.

No time. Crunch time at a startup, trying to ship a product.

So I guess you never made it out to DC. It was good seeing you on that flight last year.

Until recently I rented rooms. I made everyone sign a lease that was very specific. You need to check the terms of your lease. If you agreed to it in the lease, then yes your land lord can require that. What ever you do, *MAKE* your landlord get you a receipt when you pay. You have no record and she can say you didn't pay.

I hate greedy landlords and dont trust them. She should be glad you are paying her and should not require cash.

not sure that requiring rent in cash perse makes a landlord greedy, but i do question the reason why she would require such. DEFINTIELY ask for a reciept EVERY TIME! This will protect you form any potential issues, AND make sure that she is aware that you ALWAYS file for your renter's rebate with the state so just in case she plans on not declaring rent income, the state will have the information from your end anyways.
