Default Help with Rotors

Hey All, got some car work done this past weekend (thanks a bunch Blue!) but couldn't seem to get the rotors off. Soaked them in wd-40 and went at it with an impact driver for about 15 mins without any budging. Does anyone have suggestions or the confidence to help me get them off sometime this week?

I haven't looked yet, but are our rotors held on by two screws? If it's like the Integra they're hold on by screws. I usually drill those right off, I stopped wasting time with the impact screw driver and go to town with a drill bit head and they're off within 2-3 minutes. I just have replacement screws handy. And a vice grip for taking the screws out when the rotor is off.

i would use a impact gun with the screw driver bit on it.

whenever i use the impact screwdriver ( the one you hit with a hammer) it never works well.

I would take a regular screw driver, tap it a few times then use a impact gun with the right bit and it should come right out.

And also, if you are doing the rears, make sure the e-brake is off. You would think it would be obvious... but it even gets me sometimes.

I have yet to have any trouble with those so I would like to take the challenge assuming they're not completely rounded off.

danvuquoc: yah, 2 screws..couldn't get either of them to budge at all on the passenger side, so didn't even give it a go on the driver side. i don't have any replacement screws handy, so drilling them out wasn't really an option

basil: i thought that it's not that good to use an impact gun for things like that? too easy to strip it? besides, i'm not sure if the gun'll have enough torque to get it off.

andrew: nah, just replacing the fronts. if i can't get them off by sunday, i'll just deal w/ the vibration.

mac: you've got a txt

stephen: are you running no screws now? blue mentioned that he has that going on w/ his civic w/o any issues, but i'd like them more for a peace of mind.

The screws are NOT required... they just make it easier to assemble everything (ie: factory).
