guilty on both counts. your best shot was explaining your actions to the citing officer. Since you went that route now either hire an attorney or pay up. Remember with traffic school its only one point.

I know I'm guilty but not every guilty person gets punished in this world. So if there is a way to possibly drop one if not both of the citations, I'm all on it.

Do yourself a favor and do trial by declaration. Even if they find you guilty there you can always get another in person trial....2 chances to weasel yourself out of tickets

I guess there's no other way around this other than what's been said.

Do a Trial by Declaration. If the officer doesn't submit a declaration, then case dismissed, no matter what you wrote on yours.
If the officer does submit a declaration, then you are no worse off than you are now, since you can either accept the result, or you can request the normal trial.
I once even pleaded guilty in my declaration, and was simply asking for traffic school (I wasn't eligible at the time), but since the officer didn't submit anything, case dismissed, even though I had plead guilty.

As some of you suggested, do a Trial by Declaration.
I've done this myself and for many friends of mine. The sucessful rate is about 90% for me *fingers crossed*

if this is your first ticket in 18 months you are eligible for traffic school....
i'd still do trial by dec and then at the end of your letter say something like "If the court finds me guilty I request traffic school and a fine reduction".
