Just fill the darn tank and be done with it.
This has happened to me and filing the tank got rid of the problem.

I always fill my tank to where it almost over flows.

yea. i've only had my gas light come on once, when driving to LA last year but other than that i never go past 3 bars of gas.. just paranoid that i might have to take a different route to work so i like to be prepared

Gas guage is hands down the worst part of this car. I had a bar under half a tank yesterday; and it ended up taking 9.5 gallons.

Depending on my right foot, I know I'm getting 220-300 miles out of a tank though, so my guage never really fools me.

Happens to me every once in a while; mine fluctuates by only 1-2 bars though, never 3+. Sometimes I'll be driving and notice the bars going down, park somewhere (level ground), come back out, 1-2 bars I didn't have when I parked! Looks like a common problem, Paul. Guess you gotta just suck it up and deal with your gas tank trolling you
