Still based on the db level, my friend's 240 passed state raf test with apexi dual, and they gave him a paper says unkown brand muffer passed sound test. And I don't think there is any exhaust with carb.

i got pulled over once for vtec'ing from a uturn and then the cop said he heard my turbo (?? i'm n/a) and then changed his story to tell me he thought i had an aftermarket exhaust and had me rev it (its stock) and told me modifying any part of the emissions system was illegal (including exhaust). maybe that was bs as he then scolded me for hanging asimo on my rearview mirror yet didnt say anything about the windshield mounted navi... then let me go lol

oh and i believe the comptech exhaust is carbed

yea, at that point you just nod your head and say "yes sir" 'till he stops talking. he knows he has nothing on you, and will find something else to compensate for his ignorance.

Aftermarket exhausts do not require any CARB certification, however, Section 27151 VC says, "No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor of the vehicle so that the vehicle is not in compliance with the provisions of Section 27150 or exceeds the noise limits established for the type of vehicle in Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 27200)."

^^^
so you can change your exhaust, as long as it is not too make it louder or quieter. but if the change does happen to make it sound louder, then the noise just needs to be under the legal DB level.
