I live in Seattle but was visiting my parents in San Jose (I’m from there originally) for Thanksgiving. I was riding my motorcycle on Hwy 9 close to Saratoga and a Sheriff Deputy pulled me over and gave me a ticket for speeding. Now…I won’t lie, I’ve deserved tickets in the past but this time I was actually going the speed limit. My bike is loud so it sounded like I was going fast but my girlfriend was on the back and it was her first ride, so I was chugging along at the speed limit. He wasn’t even looking at me when I came around the corner.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for fighting this ticket? I obviously don’t want to fly down there to be present in court but if you know of a lawyer that can handle this for me (at a flat fee) with a decent rate of success I would really appreciate it. Just shoot me a PM.

In California, your first step is to fight the ticket by mail. If you are found guilty by mail, you can still fight again in court.

I don't have any tips for lawyers, though, sorry.

 

I also got a ticket (total BS as well) when I was in town visiting family for Thanksgiving. I'm going the fight-by-mail route, then if I still "lose" that, I'm showing up in court to contest again
