Default Help (evo content)

So. I have 2003 Mitsubishi Evo. Compression in all 4 cylinders should be 165psi and mine is at 120psi. It needs new piston rings in all 4 cylinders.

I'm looking for the cheapest option to get it fixed. If anyone knows a buddy or a place that's good with evos and how much would it be, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

it also helps if you're mechanically inclined. take the motor out and bring it to a machine shop. or if you're up for it take apart the block too

My friend Ralph just rebuilt an 03 Evo motor in his backyard. He's not on this forum but he welds up the titanium exhausts for everybody in the bay area. PM me and I'll give you his contact info if you are interested. He does quality work. Only problem is he takes his time, so if you are on a schedule he is not the right guy for you.

FYI. Order your rings and bearings NOW. They take a while (5 weeks and our friend even worked parts at the dealership). Mitsu only wants to sell you a $2348907234023 short block.

The car runs fine. It's just used up. Lol. It's not a rocket no more. It's 120psi all across the board so it's nothing crazy. It's just broken in. And since it's even wear it's good. Not bad at all.

Also I think I'm gonna take out the motor and have Dinan do the work. Full engine rebuild. It's gonna take them 3 weeks.

BTW how much does ur friend want for the engine in his back yard?

Either you took everybody's advice, or you don't know how much Dinan charges! If you are going to have a motor built with stock internals, look in to getting the parts sooner that you know you'll need. It took Ralph 5 weeks to get a set of stock rings.

The motor was for a customer. It went right back in to to an Evo. He's done this quite a few times now. Same with clutches... you guys sure do eat them!

. Seems funny you asked for the cheapest options but are deciding to take it to Dinan .

I think you would get better answers asking on the Evo boards.

Or speaking of which... where is Kaan? Why hasn't he posted... His Evo has a MTBF of a week . He's got to have the hookups...
