Now that I've had some time to spend with the car, I've picked up on a few things and I was wondering if they are normal:

1) Creaking at < 40 MPH that seems to be coming from behind me (the creaking may be drowned out at higher speeds, not sure)

2) Clicking after the car is turned off (the longer I drive the car, the longer the clicking) that seems to be coming from the front

Also, is it normal that I can kinda hear my tires rotate at certain speeds (the frequency of the noise they make I guess depends on how fast they're spinning).

This is my first convertible so I may just be noticing characteristics of a convertible for the first time, but I'd love some feedback.

Thanks!

Hmmmm....sounds very similar to my 2004 Silverstone @ 49k miles. Both done at around 49k miles.

1) "Creaking at < 40 MPH..." I bet you it's the rear passenger side wheel making the noise. You can hear it driving 20-45mph but drowns out as you go faster. The noise matches parallel w/ the speed of your wheels. Eventually, on cold days and more mileage, it will eventually get SUPER LOUD like it's gonna fall apart! That's the 'HUB AND BEARING." Get it here:

2) "Clicking after the car is turned off (the longer I drive the car, the longer the clicking) that seems to be coming from the front "
Do you mean clicking after the car is turned on? And gets more consistent and louder clicking as you drive longer?
That is normally TCT (Timing Chain Tensioner) which is a common ticking noise around the engine. Ticking gets much more noticeable as you drive longer.

You should PM and/or bring your car to Joey's shop in Westborough, San Bruno. His screen name is: itS2Krazy

His very well known in the s2ki community and has worked on well over 100+ S2000's.
Very quick to pinpoint problems, professional and most honest advice and very reasonable price compared to dealership. I and many other s2k owners will highly recommend him for inspection and routine maintenance. Good luck

Hey everyone,

I've been following S2KI & S2KCA for a few months now and decided to go ahead and buy the S2000 last Wednesday! I just moved back to Cupertino and I see there is a very large community of S2K owners here in the bay area and I'm very excited that people are so passionate, especially from what I've seen here on the forums. Now that I'm an actual owner, I'll be looking more closely at events and meet-ups.

Here's the info on the car as purchased:

2006 S2000 (Silver)
41,870 miles
Z1 Star Specs (225/45, 255/40)

I'm very excited to meet you all, and I'm really looking forward to going on the drives / meeting up & hanging out. Also, if anyone has any advice for me on mechanics that I should take my car to, what kind of maintenance I should be doing, DIY jobs to make the car better, where to purchase tires and a shop installing them for cheap, I'd really appreciate it (I don't need new tires for a few months, but when I do I'm getting Z1 Star Specs again). Anything you can throw at me // link a previous thread for a newbie owner to get started.

Looking forward to hearing from and meeting you all!
Welcome to the family.
