Guinea Pigs ...
After my dog died a couple months ago, its been sort of lonely so i was thinking about adopting or buying a guinea pig since my friend told me they're friendly and cute
Anybody have any info on these critters? like if they need special vaccinations or they need some special care blah blah blah.
thanks.

yes.
loads of info here (with instructions on how to build your own gp cage) - http://www.guineapigcages.com/
and here: http://www.aracnet.com/~seagull/Guineas/
here is a well known bay area guinea pig rescue group - http://www.cavyspirit.com/
i guess the most important things to remember are:
* they dont produce their own vitamin c, so you will want to feed a food with stabilized vitamin c or supplement their diet with romaine lettuce
* they are pack animals and do better in groups, so it is better to get a pair (and check their dingalings, unless you want to have lots of piggy babies)
* they are super cute and love to run around, so try to have a nice big space for them or be able to let them out and run around often. i took care of my sister's friend's gp once and it was this sad, fat little thing that lived in a 12" x 12" cage its whole life. totally depressing, man..
oh and they sing like little birds! too cute
good luck..

I used to have a hamster back in the day, but it kept biting me whenever i tried to pick it up or pet it ... Are guinea pigs the same? I just read the entire wikipedia entry on them .. looks like a lot of work to care for these guys :|

My hamsters never bit me, they just kept making babies
I think as long as you give guinea pigs enough attention, they'll get used to you and becomes used to being handled. It's the same for most rodents.
