Grinding noise when in reverse

Grinding noise when in reverse
When my car has sat for a couple of days in my garage and I start and put it in reverse, I hear a feel a locking grinding as I back out. Has anybody else experienced this? If so, wazzup? I can just imagine the gear teeth breaking off and falling out the bottom of my car. Very disturbing but doesn't seem to have any ill effects. It doesn't happen all the time. Only when the car is stone cold.
