thanks for the tips on the models i was looking at them and im either going with the sleek one (i think this is the 660 one right?) or im going with a pioneer avic not sure which model yet still looking up reviews.

any suggestions for the double din / in-dash 7" display all-in-ones?
I love anything Eclipse brand. I currently have the Eclipse AVN5510 w/ JDM Bezel but I highly recommend you get the AVN6610, or AVN5495 which has a 20GB or 30GB hard drive to store all ur MP3's. All three above have a GPS but they are costly.

Was that ur car parked at Wheel Works Daly City, today around 3:30pm?

False, both my tilt and my iPhone have had third party maps on the phone and don't need to download map data..
...except for a few paid apps.

There is a free one for the iPhone that can download a user selected map to the phone or download as needed or download and store while in use and it's free.
The mapping software for the tilt used the exact same map that garmin uses and it looked and functioned the same.
Tom Tom should be coming out with one for the iPhone and hopefully that GPS chip or the software will allow more frequent updates so the speed data will be consistent.

I like the iphone too but it's about useless if you're in a area with no service. Which seems to be just about everywhere. I lost connection by the airport in San Jose and near Shoreline in Mtn. View.

Weak.
I agree. I hate my POS iphone. I'm on my third unit and about ready to make them give me another. It's bad enough that I cant rely on it for phone calls and messaging. Relying on it to navigate me places is totally out of the question.

BTW.. my standalone is a Garmin Nuvi 265WT. Its fantastic and if you hunt around you can find them on sale for less than 200 bucks now. It's a solid garmin unit with bluetooth connection and free traffic updates.

I like that its simple to use and in a pinch I can loan it to friends or my gf if they need to get somewhere.
