I spent under $500 for my system and it sounds great!
Head unit: Pioneer DEH-7300BT ($150) I chose this because of Bluetooth phone capability. I used Sony Xplod before, and to tell you the truth the Sony sounded better because of higher wattage rating.
Speaker: Factory
Amp: Punch 100a2. The punch is usually under rated. This thing is powerful little bugger.
Subwoofer: JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3 ($225). This is perfect match with the punch. Small and powerful. This sub kick! I had Kicker Solobaric 12" that sounded only the same.
With this setup, I can listen to the music with top down on the highway comfortably.
You're welcome to hear my setup.

Now wiring amp is a little more involved. You can get an install kit at walmart for a good price. Under $30. Install probably takes 1 hour, depends where you mount the amp and how. I put mine on the spare tire area and just use heavy duty commercial grade velcro.
The JL with the box is wasy. Just put it on the well and you're all done. I love the fact that it is easily removable like if I go to the track.
Thanks to Casey for the awesome amp!

I'm glad mine is already wired for subs but I don't plan on getting any, not liking the setup but it'll do for now. Installing audio parts is a breeze, I never paid anyone.

Is it cheaper? As long as it does the job I'm not gonna complain.
