Default Got smoked by F350 Turbo Diesel

Who ever knew those things were that quick... I got off the freeway and came to the stop light. At first I didn't pay attention to the king cab that pulled up next to me.

So when the light turned green, I turned left and stayed in 2nd all the way to the next light. While doing so, I suddently noticed he turned with me and was on the far right lane at first- then within a split of a second, heard his turbo spooled... and immediately shot up about 4 cars ahead of me to the light, while crossing over to the lane right next to me.

I looked over, and saw him smile. Still dazzled how a 7500lbs truck could be so quick off the line, I'd decide to give him a go...

So when the light turned green, I nailed the throttle with limited tire spin, then 2nd, then 3rd at 50mph, and again heard his turbo spooled and off he went... And by the time we reached the next light he was about 9-10 car length ahead of me. I gave him the thumbs up and went separate ways.

Now I've beat v8 mustangs, camaros and GTOs in drag races. How the hell did I lost to a construction truck?? How many horsepowers & torque do these things put out?

Ask Jei for some force induction and you'll beat him back

I think most diesel truck have over 400ft/lb torque, they are pretty quick.

Well I know that traditional diesel engines have more low end torque for pulling power, but not necessarily acceleration. For instance, tow trucks can pull a mountain, but they're slow as snails from the start line.

So I'm amazed at the performance levels that these turbo diesel technologies put out.

S2000's are no match for these trucks...especially if he's modified his turbo or boost levels....

I raced one the other day and he was RIGHT NEXT TO ME the entire time! It's freaking loud and sooo fast. It would kill any regular s2000 for sure.

Turbo diesel... That should have warned you right there. My friend has a turbo diesel and has 700+ WHP and 1200+ ft/lb of torque. Those trucks will eat you alive and literally leave you in their black dust. Friend got in front of me and punched it... darn black smoke!

Sure he can go fast in a straight line but what happens when you reach a curve? I'd have bought a big a** muscle car if I wanted to just go fast in a straight line but that doesn't take any skill and hardly as fun as a car that can handle the twisties like an S.

simple boltons, chip and exhaust and those Cummins turbo diesels are at 1000+ ft lbs of torque. Hate when they put that black smoke out haha

When I was back in college, a friend had a stock looking modified tdi golf, he would destroy a lot of unsuspecting stoplight racers and blind them w his black smoke doing it.. not only does it suck to lose but it pisses people off that much more with the black cloud!!! mmm haha
