Default Got 4.56 gears in SF Bay Area?

I have an 08' and am considering the 4.56 gears. I'll buy ya lunch if you take me for a ride... I'm interested in checking out the whine, but also how the performance differs.

BTW, I'm in Foster City...

In terms of in gear acceleration yes, they make the car faster. The problem is; you shift a lot more, thus reducing your 1/4 mile time. Not saying we care about 1/4 times

Hope they're working good for you Vince, I'll make sure to get those OEM gears bagged up and shipped to you.

if you shift a lot more and go faster how does this reduce the 1/4?

Doesn't shifting cause you to go slower? Ya know... since you're not in gear going forward?

sure..... if you do not know how to drive.
my buddy ran 14.2 with stock 4.10 and then put in the 4.77 and ran a 13.5
so it all depends on the driver

Same day, same conditions? I don't think so.

4.77 isn't going to make your car .7 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. Try driving 4.77 on the track and you will regret it, at least that is what 4.77 owners tell me.

it will pick up your qtr mile time, not THAT dramatically but your acceleration MIDRANGE is greatly increased. the PEAK power is not increased dramatically or perhaps any at all, but I remember one of the 4.77's manufacturers boasted a 30lb. torque increase at a certain point on the dynoplot. Albeit that's hard to believe, shorter gearing has been a big player in N/A drag for a while now.

that is why people are doing H2B swaps (h22 w/ B series tranny), the shorter gearing DOES have to do with straight line acceleration unless if im mistaken? feel free to correct me if im wrong and making an idiot of myself

no it was not the same day nor the same conditions and i do know that the s2000 quarter mile time can very dependant on the driver. so hell he could of ran that fast without the gears. I think my point was to point out that there is no way that your gonna be slower in the quarter do to higher gears. if anything they will help you out a good bit unless you are a horrible driver
