goodbye from another Dot-Com fallout
well guys, it's official; the house out here is sold. In a little over 2 weeks I'm putting the S on the back of a U-haul and moving back to Jersey. It's been a great 5 years out here, and definitely loved the last 3 with the S and all of you; although it will be nice to be unique again ;-).
So, for the next 2 weeks, when I'm not busy stuffing boxes I plan on driving the dog around the area to see all the things I missed so far; Yosemite next week, etc... So, if you see me on the road, give a final wave.
A final note:
Since many of us S owners seem to be computer professionals (or used to be) I wanted to leave a few interesting tid-bits I found out about the California Labor board...
If you are a computer professional and make less than ~$85,000 a year YOU ARE OWED OVERTIME. The 1999 workplace and flexibility act reinstated the 8 hour day, including overtime for any hours worked more than 8. Then, with all the dot-com stuff, the State of California added 515.5 to the Labor Code including that all employees in the "computer software field" were owed overtime, UNLESS they met a set of standards. the biggest one I found was the salary.
Anyway, I have 2 claims with the Labor Board against my last 2 companies. Both of the Labor Commisioners told me once we go to hearing that I will basically get a check... 2.5 years of 80 hour weeks... I may be able to upgrade the S a little...
Anyway, here are a few links. PM me if you want more info.

I'm sorry to hear about that.....
I can kinda relate with you since I was also effected earlier in the year by the whole wave of lay off and lack of new positions in the Bay Area. Currently, I had to leave the area temporarily (I am working in Vancouver riding out the whole silicon valley funk) as well.
I wish you well and good luck in your future endeavourers

Aaack! Just read this this morning! Sorry to hear you are taking off...but then again I've been off since Nov and been killing time in China looking for opportunites, so I know the feeling. Glad to see things worked out overall (except the fact you need to move to the Atlantic seaboard again)..and hey at least you get to keep the S !
Best of luck to you out there! If you wanna try and go for a drive, since I'm underemployed ,I may be able to make some time and join ya!
