Good read for people wanting parts...

That's all fine and dandy, but the bottom line is PEOPLE ARE CHEAP. If you can get it for cheaper, why wouldn't you?
Customers want bottom dollar and most are willing to risk shabby service, delayed shipments for it. Asking customers to conform to how the business wants them to be is indeed a waste of bandwidth. The aftermarket automotive industry is a luxury based business and needs the customer more than the customer needs them. The business needs to conform to the customer or the business will fail.
What I do wholeheartedly agree with is the diplomacy involved between business and customer. Being forceful to a business is tactless. And being a dick is even worse. Earning respect (by loyalty, or just plain old being nice) is a great way to go... and speaks a lot for the integrity of both customer and business.
PS. I usually pay retail because a. I want it now and b. I fvking hate nickel and dime'ing. But if I can broker a deal or come across one, you can bet I am going to take it!!!
