140 with the top down, 147 with the top up...I don't really care that 150 wasn't attained, it was labout 40 degrees out, and we had a slight headwind. God that is fast though....especially the 140 with the top down

congrats. I'm glad it all went smoothly.
now that you've done it, and you've (hopefully) worked it out of your system, I'm sure you'll reflect on it and realize that it wasn't worth it.
but you did it, and got away with it. and got to see just how f*ckin fast that really is. you went faster than I did! I bet the wind screamed with the top down at 140!!!

^ I know that freeway-- I grew up in Bakersfield and used to drive up it a lot (in my '85 Corolla GT-S... sometimes I really miss that car ). 178 has got good turns yes, but it's also prone to having rocks, pebbles and dirt on it. very dangerous. also, I'd say it has more than it's fair share of road hogs with more speed than sense, who have an unfortunate tendency to go wide on turns and end up over the double-yellow line... and in your lane.
there's safer roads out there. I'd take it easy on 178.

just wondering...how long did it take to get up to that speed?
Top down was a ing rush and a half; much more intense than the 147 top up, in my opinion. Looking back, frankly, i have no regrets, it was an amazing experience, quite an adventure really. Would I do it again? No (unless i were to get a supercharger or a faster car, in which case i bet i'd get the itch again.
