I "heard" that a "friend" did 143 eastbound on the San Mateo bridge late one night. Sometime later "the friend" had a lot of thoughts and worries about any cameras/radars, etc. that might be on that bridge, but "the friend" has had no consequences. Looking back "the friend" thinks it was a pretty stupid thing to do.
505 always seems like the ideal spot to me, but I always hear about people getting caught there. They must have stealthy enforcement on that stretch.

if you're gonna do this on 505, a couple of things...
- watch for planes...they can catch you speeding
- run when there's almost no cars, like early morning...so you don't jeopardize anyone but yourself

first off, I've gone 130+ on 80 heading west from Sacramento coming back to the bay area at around 3am on a weeknight. 150 will take quite a bit longer... and A LOT more empty and hopefully debris-free highway.
really, it's a huge gamble to make. the risk/reward ratio is strongly against you... but obviously you're not posting to be talked out of it, so I'll just throw out a few things in the hopes that:
a) you don't kill yourself
b) you don't kill anyone else
c) you don't get your ass thrown in jail, license revoked, car impounded, and given such a huge fine you'll have to take out a loan to pay it. did I mention the fact that what you're talking about doing is a felony which makes you eligible for Federal pound-you-in-the-ass prison?
humble advice:
1) DO NOT under any circumstances go blowing by any other vehicle at the speeds you'll be going. the air pressure can easily blow them off the road, you'll freak them out, and if you haven't caused a wreck, they will dial 911 and a helicopter will be dispatched to track you back to your house.
2) check your tire pressure. make sure it's perfect.
3) check your tread wear. make sure your tires are still fairly new.
4) check your fluids.
5) check your mental state. if you're having second thoughts, you might want to listen to those thoughts and go play a videogame instead.
good luck. it's admittedly pretty neat the first time you go that fast, but once you've get the "been there, done that" feeling... you'll look back and realize, "that was pretty stupid of me."
good luck.

While I would agree that doing 150 on a public street is dangerous, this isn't like he's getting strapped into a rocket and being sent into space. Some of you are making this out to be more than it really is. I past 3 friends doing 140 on the way up to 150 and none of them got blow off the freeway. Its not like we are driving a semi, we don't push that much air. I can't imagine how many times I've gone that fast on my bike.
*DISCLAIMER*
None of the above actions actually occurred. They all occurred in my imagination.

Best places to top 'er out?
Laguna Seca
Sears Point
Willow Springs
Thunderhill
Buttonwillow
...
Some reasons why?
Tracks are designed and *maintained* for high speeds
You'll be warned or flagged off if there is debris on the track
There's plenty of run-off area (well, not at all tracks)
There will be a Safety Crew on stand-by
There are often instructors there willing to help improve your driving style
Our cars are more fun in twisties than on high-speed runs, anyway (IMHO)
Your car will have been required to pass at least a simple tech inspection
There's no worry of getting a ticket
Everyone is going in the same direction...basically with the same intention
Bragging rights if your lap times are better than your friends'
