i just postponed mine till december.

best way is to go and when they do Jury Selection, either
a) pretend to be crazy
b) pretend to be extremely biased towards either party, the other is sure to dismiss you

or what I did...

c) Pretend to be extremely racist (towards the ethnicity of either parties). Make it more believable with a story that is similar to your case and to justify why you're like that.

I've heard of judges not falling for that line. And they may respond by threatening to hold you in contempt of court.

There was a good episode of, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" about this. Larry David said he couldn't be non-biased because the defendant was a *#@$. He was let go BUT, when he was brought up on possesion of marijuana charges, he had the same judge. DAH DAH DAH DAH!

Oh yeah! What if the judge, plantif and defendant are all of the same minority?

It's not the judge that goes over that. The lawyers do.

Curb Your Enthusiam isn't real life either.

Oh and if they are all the same ethnicity/minority/whatever then they'll hate you more and definitely will excuse you.

How about getting out of jury duty without having to go on your assigned date?

Don't show up. No proof that you ever received the summons.
