Default Going to race tracks requires aftermarket roll bar?

Do most local race tracks require aftermarket roll bars? Thunderhill just told me that I can't participate in their high speed driving school unless I have a roll bar that "goes over the driver's head", and that the factory S2000 roll bars don't qualify.

depends on the organization. i'm pretty sure speedventures and trackmasters don't require aftermarket rollbars bc i've gone and seen factory s2000s.

Hmmmm...I thought some places were OK with the HT but not nekkid(yea structually it doesn't make alot of sense to me)

Still most rollbars you buy won't work either....cusco......pipe to thin...I think elba is one of the only legal ones....even so without extensie padding it's not real safe for street use....

the elda is pretty good, but agreed about subdural bleeding... bleh. gotta have high density foam padding, and ideally you want 6" between head and bar

Thanks guys, that's some good info. I'll look for some other events.

Which local events would you recommend most for a beginner?

NASA HPDE1 is good, Trackmasters has a novice group as well.

the time i went with nasa they had way way too many cars on the track (for the novice group). it got to the point were it was out right dangerous. i'd recommend speedventures or trackmaster. i've also heard good things about unlimitedlaps.
