Hey wasup guy's, some of you might have seen me stalking everyone at the meets. Vin, with the black rx8. Just wanted some tips on what to look for besides the usual things when looking at a used s2000 around 40k miles. Thanks in advance guys.

watch 1st and 3rd gear

if it's an ap1 model year 2000~2003, watch for 2nd gear grind as well

i would focus on the clutch see if it's slipping or not .

make sure it doesn't have shitty tires as well, you would want to be running shietty tires on rwds.

also, last thing, i would defintely make sure you know what want in terms of color, MY..., do a little research on the different between MY as well.
don't settle for something that you don't want, you'll save a lot of time and money by being patient!

yeah it took me a couple months to find the right one, and i got a nearly flawless ap1 for a bit under blue book at the time.

its worth the wait, too many beat ones out there to be set on getting one within a week.

 

yes ap1 2nd gear grind sucks ass.... last friday I punched it in first and quickly shifted to 2nd and got a huge grind and I think my tranny is gone =( Oh well now I get to put a ap2 tranny in!!

 

Thanks for the advice guys. I've been thinking about buying an s2k for the longest now, but never really gotten around to look at any. I guess it would be a better idea to take my time though.

 

FYI, AP2 2nd gear grinds also. My AP2 grinds in 2nd before the tranny warms up. That's probably the only reason I don't like about the S.

 

What's the mileage on your car wicked?

05 AP2 with 33k.
