Default frustration with automatic cars.

l learned how to drove a car when i was 16, and the car had a manual transmission. many years later i bought my first celica GTS with a 6 speed. then i bought my s2k which is stick shift as well.

now i'm driving this rental car, (despite it's a piece of Sh!t) it's a automatic transmission. i become very nervous when i drive it, and i can't even park srtaight now. i sometimes don't know how to maneuver it.

do you feel a sense of loosing control when you drive a automatic car?

my wife said when she was 16 her parents got her a $3000 isuzu rodeo in stick and told her that if she didnt know how to drive stick, she didnt know how to drive.

both of our current cars are stick (the S for me, jeep wrangler for her) and we recently had a rental (POS) in A/T. Yes, it sucked driving automatic, i only drove it for groceries once, she had it for 2 days and said she felt really unsafe like the car was doing what ever it wanted.

we had a chevy tahoe and took it to tahoe and lost control on an ice slick, my wife and i sincerely feel that if we were in a M/T things would have went better. (by better i mean not plowing down some saplings and almost driving off a cliff while driving sideways)

I can drive stick of course! I just think automatic is easier to drive, for example around town/traffic etc.

before when i had my s2000 and daily e36 i just look at the bright side that i can stick to traffic and never go to road rage mode.

just set your mindset that automatic transmission also comes with some comfort

Automatic are the easiest to drive. That's why most cars are automatics. If you can't drive an automatic, you shouldn't be driving at all. As for performance driving, stick beats it hands down because it's able to hold onto gears unlike the normal autos.

Hay guys, I've been some sort of super-human bionic driver since I was like 16 -- but now that I've been awesome for so long -- I forgot how to be normal. Sup with that?
