Default Fixies

Anyone have experience converting a multispeed bike into a fixie?

juss picked up a road bike looking to covert it. I found a bunch of links on how-to however im new to bikes, so most of it looks like jargen to me.

doing the whole conversion, changing the cranksets, rear cod, and adding the new hub

you gonna need a lot of know how. It's different specs b/t a multi-speed vs a fixie. If you don't know the jargon, it's gonna be hard to teach you in one post, or even multiple posts as this is a hands-on learned thing.
also a true fixie means that you can't coast, something pretty dangerous when you're riding in traffic.

i've been really looking into this as another hobby. im just having a hard time on what i really want as my first fixed gear. i thought about doing the conversion. but im just actually going to be a bike thats already a fixed gear.

try the FREEWHEEL bike shop 2 locations in SF. they will get you set up. www.thefreewheel.com

fixies are good if you don't have many hills or stop signs.
